Build a high-impact company with us
We source exceptional founders and recruit them to build new organisations against specific, pre-scoped opportunities in export manufacturing and labour mobility. Tell us about yourself below.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for world-class entrepreneurs to build the companies that will dramatically boost incomes for Africans through international labour mobility and export manufacturing.
The traits we care about:
- Impact-driven: you want to spend the next several years of your career creating large-scale positive impact, and you’re motivated by the chance to move thousands of people into higher-productivity jobs.
- Exceptionally talented: outstanding ability to build, lead, and operate in demanding environments. We’re looking for people who will be world-class founders.
- High-agency: ready to build a fast-moving company from scratch, with the resilience to operate in complex markets and figure things out as you go.
If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you, regardless of which sector you’re most drawn to.
Specifically for Labour Mobility
We’re building companies that connect African workers to jobs in high-income countries, where incomes can be 5–30× higher than at home.
Founders can be based on either side of the corridor:
- Destination-side (employer side): based in a high-income destination country, working directly with employers to source, place, and support African workers. For our current set of projects, we’re particularly excited about founders with deep experience in Mainland Europe.
- Origin-side (supply side): based in an African origin country, building the recruitment, training, and worker-support systems that make the corridor work.
Prior experience in labour mobility is a significant bonus but not required. Prior experience working in Africa is also a significant bonus but not required.
Specifically for Export Manufacturing
We’re building manufacturing companies in Africa that export into global markets, creating thousands of formal jobs at higher wages than the local alternative and moving the productivity frontier forward in Africa.
Founders need to be based in Africa, in the country where the company is being built. If you’re not already based on the continent, you would need to be ready to relocate.
We are particularly excited about founders with prior experience in manufacturing or closely-related industries. For exceptionally talented founders without that background, we may place you into an existing manufacturing business for a period to learn the trade from the inside, as you prepare to launch your own venture.
How we work with founders
We back exceptional founders to build new companies from the ground up in export manufacturing and international labour mobility. We are often recruiting for specific, pre-scoped opportunities we have identified, but we are also open to founders bringing their own ideas, provided they fall within our thesis.
Working together. We work closely with founders from the start to identify the right opportunity, understand the market, and develop a clear path to impact. This is a collaborative process: we bring sector expertise, networks, and hands-on operational support, and we expect founders to bring ambition, rigour, and a genuine commitment to the mission. Our goal is to help you go from zero to one as quickly as possible.
Our investment structure. We invest in two stages:
- Scoping investment ($0–$100k): An initial grant or investment to validate the opportunity, testing assumptions, scoping the market, and establishing proof of concept.
- Scale-up investment ($100k–$1m): Where the scoping phase clears the bar, we follow on with a larger investment to build out operations and place the first cohort of workers or ramp initial production.
Instrument flexibility. We are flexible on structure depending on the organisation type and situation, investing across equity, debt, and revenue-based financing, and in exceptional cases, grants. We invest at concessional rates in high-risk early-stage ventures. Where possible, we prefer instruments that return capital sooner, even at a lower rate of return, so that funding can be recycled into new ventures, though we are careful not to create pressure that could undermine the growth of an organisation that is still finding its footing.
Not sure if you’re the right fit? Apply anyway. If we’re excited about your profile we’re happy to have a conversation, even if you’re still exploring.
